In the Dark
Crystal Home is a small, mostly human town of no more than 2,000 residents. Crystal Home does not lie on a major trade route, nor is it directly connected to any major towns or cities. The actual town lies in two cavern, one atop the other, connected by a large shaft. Goods can be moved between the two caverns via winches and pullies and people can climb stairs that have been carved out of the sides of the shaft or pay to ride up or down in cage. Crystal Home has a small harbor that feeds into a tributary that eventually flows into the Shadow Sea and as such the citizens of Crystal Home have an ample source of fresh water and food.
Crystal Home is very remote, from Mereskute it is a 10 day journey by boat, from the Warren it is a 15 day trip through mostly lifeless tunnels and caverns. And once you reach Crystal Home it is very difficult to leave. Crystal Home is a religious retreat. The caverns it lies in are covered in luminescent crystals and are considered sacred by many differnt religions and cults. Making the journey there on foot is considered to be a test of faith by many and once they reach Crystal Home they renounce thier old lives for ones of religous devotion and aseticism. As such some temples keep some money to buy some things from the occasinal trader who makes their way to their seculded retreat, but many renounce money and material possensions. Supplies cannot be bought, though they can be traded for, and ships do not frequently come to port. Travellers who are not expecting to stay in Crystal Home can expect to be provided for at a temple, as long as they provide some service, but gathering enough supplies to make the trip back on foot is difficult at best and it is not unheard of for 2 or more months to pass between trade ships.
